Oopsies is our game, so weigh this part with that in mind. It's a seek-and-find game: the Oopsie to find is shown at the top, and your child taps it in a crowd of silly characters, no reading needed. Each world adds a twist, like searching in the dark with a flashlight or matching a shadow to its owner. There are over 100 levels and many worlds, and nothing to buy in any of them.

Nobody fails a level: a wrong tap only adds 10 seconds, and the stopwatch button on the home screen hides the timer for kids who'd rather not race. It works in airplane mode, and progress syncs once you're back online. It's rated 4+ and isn't designed for 2- and 3-year-olds.
A big collection of short learning games with PBS KIDS characters. The description says they're made for kids ages 2 to 8, and the version history mentions downloading games to play offline.
Learning activities, books and games for ages 2 to 8, from the nonprofit Khan Academy. Its description says it's "always 100% free, no ads, no subscriptions", and books and games can be downloaded for the road.
A game you buy once has no reason to show ads. These ones list no in-app purchases at all.
Find Pango hiding in animated little worlds, then three secret objects in each. The description says it's for children from age 3, with no timer and no stress.
Hand-drawn black-and-white scenes full of tiny people to find, like a Where's Waldo book that moves, with silly sound effects. Fun to play side by side with a parent, and it has no time limit.
Mosaics made of thousands of little objects, with a list of things to find that changes every time. Better for school-age kids who can read the list, or with a grown-up reading it out.
A subscription replaces ads as the way the app gets paid. Watch the renewal date after a free trial.
Oopsies starts at 4, so it isn't on this short list. For 2- and 3-year-olds, look for "Made for Ages 0–5" on the listing and very simple controls:
For the youngest, Guided Access keeps the iPhone or iPad locked inside one app, so a stray tap can't wander off to the home screen.
Check its in-app purchases for a one-time "Remove Ads" item, and read the recent reviews first: they're where people report ads that came back. Then turn on Ask to Buy in Family Sharing, so a tap on an ad that leads to the App Store sends you a request instead of a download. Apple says it's on by default for children under 13.
Yes. Oopsies (rated 4+), PBS KIDS Games and Khan Academy Kids are free, with no ads and nothing to buy on their US App Store listings, checked on October 16, 2026. Khan Academy Kids' description says it's "always 100% free, no ads, no subscriptions".

Every game on this page runs on iPad as well as iPhone, and none of them shows ads. Oopsies also runs on a Mac (M1 or later) and Apple Vision Pro, with the same free download.
It means the app is in Apple's Kids category. Apple's rules say apps there shouldn't include third-party advertising, with narrow exceptions, and must keep purchases behind a parental gate. It's a good sign, but it doesn't rule out a subscription: Sago Mini World is made for ages 0–5 and is a subscription.
Oopsies works in airplane mode: levels play offline, and progress and leaderboard times sync once you're back online. PBS KIDS Games, Khan Academy Kids and Sago Mini World let you download games before you go, according to their listings. Try a round in airplane mode at home before a trip.
For ages 4 and up on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro. No ads, no in-app purchases, and nothing your child can buy by accident.
