What's on the sheet
- 3 Oopsies, 3 strings, 3 bubbles
- Every string crosses another one
- All strings are the same color, so the eyes have to follow them
Printed instructions: “Follow each string with your finger, from the Oopsie to its bubble. Then color the bubble the same color as the Oopsie.”
About this follow the strings sheet
Three strings, all the same color, go from the Oopsies on the left to bubbles on the right, crossing on the way. Following a line with the eyes, without jumping onto another one at a crossing, is visual tracking. Coloring each bubble like its Oopsie gives the child a way to show the answer without writing.
Tips for parents and teachers
- Let your child follow each string with a finger first, then with the eyes only.
- At a crossing, show them to keep going straight rather than turning.
- The strings don't need color: this sheet prints fine in black and white (the coloring is up to your child).
The skill it trains: visual tracking
Visual tracking is the ability to follow something with the eyes, smoothly and without losing it: a ball flying through the air, a bubble floating away, or a line of text across the page.
Visual tracking: what it is, signs a child finds it hard, and more activities
Play it in Oopsies: Bubble Pop
🫧 Bubble Pop
The Oopsies rise in bubbles from the bottom of the screen, wobbling as they go. Children follow the right bubble and pop it; if it floats away, it comes back a little later.
