What's on the sheet

3 things to count: glasses, mustaches, hats
Each Oopsie wears at most one of them, plus some wear none
Picture labels from the app's Family Reunion world

Printed instructions: “How many Oopsies wear glasses? A mustache? A hat? Count them and write the numbers in the boxes.”

About this i spy sheet

The boxes at the bottom use the same little pictures as the Family Reunion world in the app, so a child who can't read yet knows what to count. Each Oopsie wears at most one of the three, and Oopsies with beards or big hair are left out, so a mustache always looks like a mustache and a hat like a hat.

Tips for parents and teachers

Count one accessory at a time, and mark each Oopsie you count.
Ask your child which Oopsies wear nothing at all: a good check that everyone was looked at.
Works in black and white too: the accessories don't depend on color.

The skill it trains: visual scanning

Visual scanning is the ability to search a space with the eyes in an organized way: left to right, top to bottom, without skipping parts or checking the same spot over and over.

Visual scanning: what it is, signs a child finds it hard, and more activities

Play it in Oopsies: Family Reunion

👨‍👩‍👧 Family Reunion

Find every Oopsie of the family: all the ones with glasses, a mustache, a hat… The trait is shown as a little picture, so no reading is needed, and a counter keeps track of the search.
