What's on the sheet
- 36 Oopsies, 3 pairs of twins
- Each pair has 3 lookalike cousins: same color, same accessory
- One twin of each pair is lying on its side
Printed instructions: “Find the 3 pairs of twins. Some Oopsies look almost the same, and one twin of each pair is lying on its side!”
About this find the twins sheet
Three pairs to find, each with three cousins that share its color and its accessory, so the twins only show up when a child compares every detail. And one twin of each pair is lying on its side: recognizing the same face turned 90 degrees is a step up for many children.
Tips for parents and teachers
- Give your child three colored pencils, one per pair: it keeps the answers tidy.
- If they get stuck, tell them the color of a pair and let them search among those.
- Turning the sheet to straighten a twin up is allowed, and a good strategy.
The skill it trains: visual discrimination
Visual discrimination is the ability to notice how things you see are alike and how they differ: their shape, color, size and small details. It is what tells a child that b and d are two different letters, or which of two almost identical pictures has an extra button.
Visual discrimination: what it is, signs a child finds it hard, and more activities
Play it in Oopsies: Double Trouble
👯 Double Trouble
No Oopsie is shown to look for: two of them are exactly alike, and you find the pair. Later levels add "cousins" with the same color and accessory, twins of different sizes, and twins turned another way.
