About this seek and find sheet

This is the busy one. Half of the 63 Oopsies are close lookalikes: same color and the same glasses, mustache or hat as an Oopsie to find. Picking the right face out of all that visual noise is what figure-ground perception is about. Older siblings and grown-ups tend to want a go too.

Tips for parents and teachers

Split the job: find one Oopsie at a time instead of all five at once.
A ruler or a sheet of paper laid under each row helps a child who keeps losing their place.
Play it as a race between two children, each with a copy and a different color pencil.

The skill it trains: figure-ground

Figure-ground perception is the ability to pick out one thing (the figure) from a busy background (the ground) and keep your attention on it. Finding a friend in a crowd, a word on a full page or one Lego brick in the box all rely on it.
