What's on the sheet

Printed instructions: “Draw a line from each Oopsie to its shadow. Some shadows are tilted, and one shadow has no Oopsie at all!”

About this shadow matching sheet

Two twists make this sheet harder. The shadows lean a little, so a child has to recognize a shape even when it is turned, which is what form constancy is about. And there is one shadow too many: a decoy with no Oopsie, so the last match can't be found by elimination.

Tips for parents and teachers

The skill it trains: form constancy

Form constancy is the ability to recognize a shape or an object even when it changes size, color, position or direction. A triangle is still a triangle when it's huge, tiny, upside down or red, and a cup is still a cup seen from above.

Play it in Oopsies: Shadow Show

🌑 Shadow Show

The Oopsie to find is shown as a shadow, so children match its outline without colors or face details. In some levels it is the other way round: the whole scene is shadows and the Oopsie to find is in color.
