What's on the sheet
- 6 rows of 5 identical Oopsies
- Every row leans; the odd one leans the opposite way, or is turned
- Works in black and white
Printed instructions: “In each row, the Oopsies lean the same way, except one that leans or turns differently. Circle it.”
About this which way? sheet
Here every Oopsie leans a little, and the odd one leans the opposite way, or is turned on its side or upside down. Spotting a lean to the left among leans to the right takes a closer look at direction than the easy sheet, a bit like telling a b from a d.
Tips for parents and teachers
- Ask your child to tilt their head like the Oopsies in the row, then find the one that tilts the other way.
- A pencil laid along each Oopsie's middle shows the lean clearly.
- Talk about left and right: "this one leans to the left".
The skill it trains: spatial relations
Spatial relations (also called position in space) is understanding where things are compared with each other and with yourself: above, below, in front, behind, left, right, and which way something is turned.
Spatial relations: what it is, signs a child finds it hard, and more activities
Play it in Oopsies: Tiny Titans
🐘 Tiny Titans
Oopsies of very different sizes spread over a field bigger than the screen. Children drag to look around and pinch to zoom, tiny Oopsies hide under giants, and later levels turn the Oopsies in every direction.
