Peekaboo Game: Guess Who's Peeking
Peekaboo! Only a bit of an Oopsie peeks through a little round window: part of a face, two eyes, the top of a hat. Who is it? Find them in the crowd. Peekaboo is a guess-the-picture world of Oopsies, a free seek-and-find game, and two of its levels play right here.
Free, nothing to download. Tap Find to start: the timer runs, and a wrong Oopsie adds 10 seconds, like in the app.
How the peekaboo game works
The start screen shows a close-up in a porthole, and that's all. No name, no full picture. You have to work out who it is from that small piece, then find them among the others.
- Level 1 shows most of the face. Level 3, the second level above, only the eyes.
- Every wrong tap zooms the close-up out a little, so you see a bit more. It costs 10 seconds, but it helps.
- After 30 seconds without finding, the close-up zooms out on its own, and again 30 seconds later.
- Later levels zoom in closer, and show other pieces: the mouth, the top of the head (only for Oopsies with a hat or hair), one side of the face. From level 4, lookalikes join the crowd.
What Peekaboo trains
Recognizing a whole picture from a small part of it is visual closure. It's the skill that lets readers recognize a word without looking at every letter, and lets kids finish a half-drawn picture in their head.
Once you've guessed what the Oopsie looks like, you still have to tell it apart from similar faces in the crowd: that's visual discrimination.

Tips for parents
- Describe the piece together. "Big round eyes, and something red above them." The more your child says out loud, the easier the search.
- Make a peephole. Cut a small hole in a sheet of paper and slide it over a picture book. Guess the picture, then lift the paper.
- Mistakes are clues. Each wrong tap shows a bit more of the Oopsie. For younger kids, that's a built-in helping hand rather than a failure.
- Play the real peekaboo. With toddlers too young for the app (it's rated 4+), hide a toy under a cloth with just one part showing.
The Peekaboo cards
Each level of Peekaboo frees one Oopsie, and every Oopsie you free becomes a collector card in the app. Here are the cards of this world, the same as in the game. Point at a card, or drag it, to tilt it.
Good to know
- Free, for real. No ads, no in-app purchases, nothing to unlock with money.
- Rated 4+ on the App Store. Simple enough for preschoolers, tricky enough for grown-ups in later levels.
- iPhone, iPad, Mac (M1 or later) and Apple Vision Pro.
- Works in airplane mode. Levels play offline; progress and leaderboard times sync when you're back online.
- Rather no timer? The stopwatch button on the app's home screen hides the timer and the "+10 s" for a wrong Oopsie.
